ORDINANCE NO. 100661

Authorizing the Acting Director of Neighborhood and Community Services to enter into a contract with Legal Aid of Western Missouri in the amount of $150,000.00 to provide certain legal services.

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2010, the City Council approved staff recommendations for a Community Development Block Grant Fund in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development 2010 One Year Action Plan in accordance with the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990, as amended, authorizing submission of the Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and certifying the plan; and 

WHEREAS, authorization is required from the City Council in order for the Acting Director to enter into contracts; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Acting Director of Neighborhood and Community Services is hereby authorized to expend and execute a contract with Legal Aid of Western Missouri in the amount of $150,000.00 to provide legal services from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 11-2600-575317-B. The contract is approved, in substantial form as that on file with the Acting Director of Neighborhood and Community Services.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
