RESOLUTION NO. 991589

 

Approving an amendment to the Westport Planning Area Plan, being that part of Kansas City bounded by the 31st Street Trafficway, State Line Road, Ward Parkway and Troost Avenue, by modifying the Land Use Plan and Map for two areas generally located at the southeast corner of 37th Street and Gillham Road and on the east side of Gillham Road, approximately 125 feet south of 38th Street, to recommend multi-family residential uses - medium density instead of one and two family residential uses.

 

WHEREAS, on August 11, 1972, the City Council through the adoption of Resolution No. 41438 which adopted the Westport Planning Area Plan as a plan for future development within an area generally bounded on the north by 31st Street Trafficway; on the west by State Line Road, on the south by Ward Parkway and on the east by Troost Avenue;

 

WHEREAS, the Westport Planning Area Plan has been amended by Resolution No. 56687, Resolution No. 57006, Resolution No. 58324, Resolution No. 57648, Resolution No. 59731, Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 63219, Resolution No. 64634, Resolution No. 64797, Resolution No. 64825, Resolution No. 941429, Resolution No. 931403, Resolution No. 940741, Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 950097, and Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 960778; and

 

WHEREAS, due to certain changes over the years, it is desirable to modify certain components of the Westport Planning Area Plan by amendments to the Land Use Plan and Map; and

 

WHEREAS, public notice of a hearing before the City Plan Commission was published on ________________; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered such amendment to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map on ________________; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on ________________, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Westport Planning Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Westport Planning Area Plan is hereby amended by repealing the Land Use Plan and Map and approving a new Land Use Plan and Map by changing the recommended land uses from one and two family residential uses to multi-family residential uses - medium density in the following areas:

 

1. The area generally located on the east side of Gillham Road, south of 37th Street; and

 

2. The area generally located on the east side of Gillham Road, approximately 125 feet south of 38th Street;

 


and approving in lieu thereof a new Land Use Plan and Map for said areas, a copy of which Land Use Plan and Map is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit A.

 

Section B. That the Westport Planning Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 


Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed amendment hereinabove, all public notices and hearings required by the Zoning Ordinance have been given and had.
