RESOLUTION NO. 170470

Honoring Tracy A. Clark on the occasion of his retirement from the City of Kansas City, Missouri after 32 years 7 months of service.

WHEREAS, Tracy Clark began his tenure as a City employee on November 14, 1984, when he was hired for maintenance work in the Aviation Department. Tracy came to this work after serving eight years in the United States Navy, where he served honorably as a Naval firefighter; and

WHEREAS, Tracy’s ability and commitment to his work led to a significant promotion in 1989, when he was named maintenance supervisor for City Hall. In this role, Tracy has overseen the maintenance of many City assets, including City Hall, Municipal Court, Kansas City Police Department headquarters, Communications Center, and ten municipal garages in downtown Kansas City, including those at the Power and Light District, the Arts District, the West Bottoms, and the garages serving City Hall and the surrounding government district; and

WHEREAS, Tracy’s skills, knowledge, and work ethic have made him an invaluable member of the General Services Department. Throughout his career, Tracy has performed work that few people would identify as glamorous, but all would agree is essential. He has repaired and replaced outdated, broken plumbing, dealt with flooding that damaged transformers and left City Hall without electricity for twelve hours, and calmed people while extracting them from stalled elevators. Tracy maintains that his job has always been fun, and that the people he works with make every day special; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Clark has served the City well for over three decades, and is now retiring. The sound that identifies him will no longer be the jingling of his many keys, but the roar of his motorcycle as he seeks new adventures; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby salute Tracy Clark on the occasion of his retirement, and express their gratitude for his 32 years of dedicated service to the City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution is spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof is presented to Tracy A. Clark with the appreciation and best wishes of the Mayor and City Council.
