COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 970861

Authorizing a $40,000.00 contract with the Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph to provide alternatives to abortion services and authorizing the Director of Health to amend the contract by up to $35,000.00 without Council approval.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of Health is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, acting through their officer of executory authority, to provide alternatives to abortion services, for seven months, for an amount not to exceed $40,000.00, from funds previously appropriated in Ordinance No. 970358 in Account No. 100-050-2135. A copy of the contract, in substantial form, is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

Section 2. That the Director of Health is authorized to amend the contract without Council approval. Contract amendments cannot exceed $35,000.00.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
