ORDINANCE NO. 090537

 

Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into a contract with Children's Mercy Hospital to provide primary health care services for indigent residents in Kansas City, Missouri; and declaring an emergency.

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance authorizes a contract with Children's Mercy Hospital to provide primary health care for indigent residents; and

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance should be declared an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503(a)(2) of the City Charter in that it relates to the immediate preservation of the public health and is necessary to prevent a gap in services and care; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That an agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and Childrens Mercy Hospital, acting through its Executive Director, whereby the agency will provide primary care for the City's indigent residents for the period of May 1, 2009 through April 30, 2010, to be paid from funds previously appropriated to the Health Levy accounts listed below, is hereby accepted and approved. Copies of this agreement, in substantial form, is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

 

10-2330-512120-F Childrens Mercy Hospital $ 1,199,507.00

Section 2. That this ordinance is declared an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503(a)(2) of the City Charter in that it relates to the immediate preservation of the public health, and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
