ORDINANCE NO. 080150

Adopting certain revisions to the Major Street Plan for the area of I-29 and N.W. Prairie View Road between N.W. 62nd Street and N.W. 72nd Street; and directing the City Clerk to file certain documents with the appropriate offices.

WHEREAS, a Major Street Plan for Kansas City was adopted by Second Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 64073, passed September 28, 1989;

WHEREAS, further changes were recommended and approved by Ordinance No. 64760, passed November 22, 1989; by Ordinance No. 911308, passed November 27, 1991; by Ordinance No. 960104, passed March 7, 1996; by Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 971243, passed February 5, 1998; by Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 000742, passed June 29, 2000; by Ordinance No. 020136, passed March 6, 2002; by Ordinance No. 011406, passed July 18, 2002; by Ordinance No. 011288, passed August 15, 2002; by Ordinance No. 030928, passed September 11, 2003; by Ordinance No 051158, passed October 6, 2005; by Ordinance No. 051159, passed October 6, 2005; by Ordinance No. 051160, passed October 6, 2005; by Ordinance No. 051161, passed October 6, 2005; by Ordinance No. 060579, passed June 15, 2006; and by Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 061235, passed November 30, 2006; and

WHEREAS, further review and revisions to the Major Street Plan are now necessary to improve the operation of the interchange at 64th Street and I-29 and other nearby streets by relocating N.W. Prairie View Road away from the I-29 interchange; and

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission has reviewed the proposed amendments to the Major Street Plan and, pursuant to public notice and hearing, did on February 5, 2008, recommend these revisions to the Major Street Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Major Street Plan of Kansas City is amended by making certain revisions to the Major Street Plan and Appendix A - Major Street Inventory, copies of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk with this ordinance, and are incorporated herein by reference. This amendment adds N.W. Prairie View Road as an arterial street and provides for widening, relocating, and other street, highway and drive modifications and provides for a general concept plan and design criteria in an area that includes N.W. Prairie View Road, N. Chatham Avenue, N.W. 62nd Terrace, N. Cosby Avenue, N.W. 64th Street/Highway 45 from approximately N.W. 72nd Street south to approximately N.W. 62nd Street and including the east and west side of I-29 and extending west to N. Cosby Avenue.

Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file such documents in the office of the Recorder of Deeds for Platte County, Missouri, Jackson County, Missouri, Clay County, Missouri, and Cass County, Missouri.

Section 3. That the Council hereby finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed amendment hereinabove, all public notices and hearings required by law have been given and had.
