Honoring Jim Voss, Public Improvements Advisory Committee
appointee for eight years, from 1985 to 1992, and the only Kansas Citian to
have served in that volunteer capacity for such a length of time.
WHEREAS, Jim Voss and his wife of 21 years, Toni
Voss, moved to Kansas City, Missouri in August 1975, and later became residents
of the Park Plaza subdivision of Kansas City in Platte County on July 4, 1976.
Jim and Toni are fine examples of civic-minded Platte Countians. Their concern
for citizens has been displayed time and time again. Toni has worked with the
League of Women Voters, Northland United Way, and Northland Health Care
Access. Jim continues to work with Platte Senior Services. His dedicated work
and listening ear have served the PIAC very well; and
WHEREAS, Jim's friendship with Mike Burke and Chuck
Weber led to his appointment and reappointment to the PIAC. His cheerful and
humored approach to the time consuming task made him popular with elected
officials, citizens and City staff. Those who will remember him best include
Mike Burke, Chuck Weber, Sally Johnson, the late Harold Hamil, George
Satterlee, Gurnie Gunter, Chuck Owsley, Mac Andrew, Jack Redfearn, Rich Noll, Chet
Gearhart, Badi Eshraghi, Shelley Temple, Diane Doran, Flora Buford, and Susan
Downing as well as many present and former employees of Kansas City, not to
mention the hundreds of citizens he helped. Jim Voss never missed a PIAC
meeting; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and commend
Jim Voss for his long and faithful service to the Public Improvements Advisory
Committee as a volunteer; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be
spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy
hereof be presented to Jim and his wife, Toni, in token of the appreciation of
the Mayor and Council for their dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas
City, Missouri.
