RESOLUTION NO. 130105

 

Honoring Dennis Gagnon for his exceptional service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Dennis Gagnon was originally hired by the City of Kansas City, Missouri as a Public Information/Administrative Officer in the Public Works Department in 2006;

 

WHEREAS, Dennis was promoted to an Assistant to the Director of Administrative Services in 2010 and transferred to City Communications in 2010 and in this role, he was responsible for the City’s publications, website, social media, Channel 2, and marketing and internal communications; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis strengthened City Communications, and under his purview, KCMOre biannual resident magazine launched and The Fountain Pen monthly internal newsletter returned, among other innovative and creative communication initiatives; and

 

WHEREAS, Citizen satisfaction in the category of “effectiveness of city communication” rose consistently each year Dennis led City Communications; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis came to the City of Kansas City, Missouri with more than 25 years of experience in organizational communications; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City was fortunate to have Dennis’ creativity and leadership in the City Communications Division; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis Gagnon resigned on December 1, 2012; and

 

WHEREAS, one of his final projects was a health and cooking show entitled “Time to Be Well” that showcases healthy eating tips and contains cooking demonstrations; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis could be seen hosting programs on Channel 2 as well as representing the City of Kansas City in television interviews on local television stations; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Dennis Gagnon for his exceptional service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dennis Gagnon with the best wishes of the Mayor and Council for success in his future endeavors.
