RESOLUTION NO. 001519

 

Establishing the Citys priorities for proposed legislation which the City encourages the General Assembly to adopt during the year 2001 Missouri Legislative Session.

 

WHEREAS, the Missouri Legislature will convene January 3, 2001, and the City, during the process of establishing its legislative priorities, wishes to propose initial specific draft legislation for adoption during the 2001 Session; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Council of Kansas City hereby adopts the following summaries of proposed draft legislation as its legislative priorities for the year 2001 Missouri Legislative Session:

 

1. Re-authorize the current one-half cent sales tax for public transportation.

 

2. Relocate Section 347.189 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri requiring officers of limited liability companies to disclose who has management control and responsibility for real property of the company to Section 347.048.

 

3. Increase allowable fines for persons convicted of property code violations from $500.00 to $1,000.00.

 

4. Authorize the City to submit to the voters a proposal to impose a one dollar per day user fee on vehicle rentals to fund the Citys convention and entertainment facilities.

 

5. Amend Section 701.359 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri to clarify that the City is exempt from the provisions of the Elevator Safety Act.
