RESOLUTION NO. 120422

Supporting an application to the U.S. Department of Justice for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, desires to submit an application to the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice, for the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, by May 14, 2012; and 

WHEREAS, the application will be for funding in the amount of
$578,429.00, which must be shared by Kansas City, Jackson County, Independence and Grandview, to be used for community crime prevention efforts; and 

WHEREAS, as required by the U.S. Department of Justice, representatives of the jurisdictions met and agreed upon individual allocations; and 

WHEREAS, under the agreement, the allocated amounts are Kansas City - $304,423.00, Jackson County - $208,000.00, Independence - $54,006.00, and Grandview - $12,000.00; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council do acknowledge and support this application submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice for the Justice Assistance Grant Program.
