RESOLUTION NO. 990137
Amending
the South Central Area Plan by amending the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map in
an area generally bounded by Woodland Avenue on the east, 54th Street on the
south, Highland Avenue on the west and 53rd Street on the north by changing the
recommended land uses from public/semi public uses to low-density
residential uses.
WHEREAS,
on March 21, 1980, the City Council by adoption of Resolution No. 51319 adopted
the South Central Area Plan being the Plan for development and redevelopment of
that area bounded by Volker/47th Street on the north, 63rd Street on the south,
Prospect Avenue on the east and Oak Street on the west; and
WHEREAS,
said South Central Area Plan was amended on June 18, 1989, through the adoption
of Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 63221; was again amended on November
30, 1989, through the adoption of Resolution No. 64742; was amended on November
6, 1997, through the adoption of Resolution No. 971077 and was further amended
on February 11, 1998, through the adoption of 981498; and
WHEREAS,
after further review by the City Development Department it has been deemed
appropriate to amend the South Central Area Plan as it affects that area
generally bounded by Woodland Avenue on the east, 54th Street on the south,
Highland Avenue on the west and 53rd Street on the north by modifying the
Proposed Land Use Plan and Map for such area from public/semi-public uses to
low-density residential uses; and
WHEREAS,
public notice of a hearing before the City Plan Commission was published on
December 21, 1998; and
WHEREAS,
the City Plan Commission considered such amendment to the Proposed Land Use
Plan and Map on January 5, 1999; and
WHEREAS,
after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony,
the City Plan Commission did on January 5, 1999, recommend approval of the
proposed amendment to the South Central Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section
A. That the South Central Area Plan is hereby amended as to the Proposed Land
Use Plan and Map for that area generally bounded by Woodland Avenue on the
east, 54th Street on the south, Highland Avenue on the west and 53rd Street on
the north, by changing the recommended land uses from public/semi-public uses
to low-density residential uses. A copy of said amendment to the South
Central Area Plan is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
Section
B. That the amendment to the South Central Area Plan is consistent and complies
with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee
Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the
FOCUS Kansas City Plan.
