ORDINANCE NO. 940669

Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into an agreement with SAVE, Inc. whereby it will provide housing assistance to persons with HIV/AIDS from April 15, 1994 to April 15, 1995, for which the City will provide $992,180.00 in previously appropriated funding, and recognizing an emergency.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Director of Health is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with SAVE, Inc. whereby it will provide long-term tenant-based assistance for persons living with HIV/AIDS, operating expenses for housing facilities owned by the contractor, short term emergency shelter, assistance for utility deposits, and moving expenses for persons living with HIV/AIDS for the period of April 15, 1994 through April 15, 1995, for which the City will provide $992,180.00 in funds previously appropriated in Account No. 95-273-050-2450-B. A copy of said agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

Section 2. That this Ordinance, making provision for the expenditure of funds in connection with the preservation of the public health, is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of Article II, Section 15 of the Charter of Kansas City, Missouri, and shall take effect immediately upon passage. _____________________________________________

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
