ORDINANCE NO. 070682

 

Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into contracts with area health centers, along with Children's Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical Center to provide primary care for indigent Kansas City residents and to authorize a contract with Metropolitan Ambulance Service Trust to provide a dedicated ambulance service to the residents of Kansas City, Missouri; and recognizing an emergency.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That agreements between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and Cabot Westside Clinic (Richard Cabot Club), K.C. Free Health Clinic, Northland Health Care Access, Samuel Rodgers Health Services, Swope Parkway Health Services, Children's Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical Center, acting through their Executive Directors, whereby these agencies will provide primary care for the City's indigent residents for the period of May 1, 2007 through April 30, 2008, are hereby accepted and approved. Copies of these agreements, in substantial form, are attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

08-2330-512136-F Cabot Westside Clinic (Richard Cabot Club) 497,604.00

08-2330-512139-F Samuel U. Rodgers Center 1,205,453.00

08-2330-512137-F Swope Parkway Health Center 1,205,453.00

08-2330-512150-F Truman Medical Center 25,896,000.00

08-2330-512120-F Childrens Mercy Hospital 1,200,000.00

TOTAL $30,774,885.00

 

Section 2. That an agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust (MAST), acting through its Executive Director, whereby MAST will provide the City of Kansas City with dedicated ambulance services, in the amount of $13,500,000.00, for a one year period from May 1, 2007 through April 30, 2008 from funds previously appropriated to Account Nos. 08-2330-512140-F and 08-2320-512140-E, is hereby accepted and approved.

 

Section 3. That this ordinance is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503 of the City Charter in that it provides for current expenses of municipal government and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
