RESOLUTION NO. 041084

Designating Saturday and Sunday, October 2-3, 2004, as Hyde Park Weekend.

WHEREAS, the Hyde Park neighborhood is a well preserved turn-of-the-century neighborhood representing some of the finest residential designs in Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, the Hyde Park neighborhood will celebrate its 26th Homes Tour; and

WHEREAS, seven houses will be open for view; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday and Sunday the tour will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and

WHEREAS, the tour is completely operated by volunteers; and

WHEREAS, this neighborhood event has grown into a City-wide affair, showcasing central city living; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby designate October 2-3, 2004, as Hyde Park Weekend in Kansas City in recognition of their continuing effort to conserve and improve their splendid historic neighborhood for the enrichment of the heritage of all Kansas Citians; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association in token of the enormous pleasure and pride afforded the Mayor and Council by the ongoing efforts of the people of Hyde Park to preserve a neighborhood so important to the history and development of Kansas City.
