ORDINANCE NO. 120036

Accepting a Quitclaim Deed from the United States of America conveying to Kansas City a certain lot in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri; approving the conveyance of said property to Heart N Hand Ministries, Inc., through Special Warranty Deed; and directing recording of appropriate deeds and ordinances.

WHEREAS, in 2005, the Marine Corps Support Activity (“MCSA”) in Kansas City at the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force facility was declared surplus and designated for closure in 2011; and

 WHEREAS, in 2011, Ordinance No. 101020 authorized the City to enter into a Legally Binding Agreement between the City and Heart N Hand Ministries, Inc., for the City’s acceptance of surplus property from the Federal Government (“Property”) and conveyance of the Property to Heart N Hand Ministries, Inc., for provision of services to homeless persons in the area; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Quitclaim Deed conveying the property to the City, a copy of which is attached to this ordinance and is made a part hereof, is hereby accepted.

Section 2. That the Council hereby authorizes the Director of Finance to execute a Special Warranty Deed conveying the Property, to Heart N Hand Ministries, Inc., an easement for ingress and egress to the Property and such other documents as may be necessary to effectuate the transfer of the Property.

Section 3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to record a copy of this ordinance in the office of the Director of Records for Jackson County, Missouri, as evidence of the acceptance and sale of the herein described property by the City.
