ORDINANCE NO. 001689
Authorizing execution of
an STP-Transportation Enhancement Program Agreement with the Missouri Highway
and Transportation Commission to assist in the improvement and enhancement of
that part of downtown Kansas City between 5th Street and 6th Street and
Broadway Boulevard and directing the City Clerk to file certain documents with
the appropriate offices.
WHEREAS, the City
Council in Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 991176 accepted the Kansas
City Transportation and Development Committees recommendations and supported
the submission of an application to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and
Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) for the fiscal year 1999
STP-Transportation Enhancement Funds Program; and
WHEREAS, the
application was recommended by MARC Total Transportation Policy Committee and
approved by MoDOT for Federal Enhancement Funding; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY
THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That
the Director of the Department of City Development, is hereby authorized to
enter into, on behalf of the City, a STP-Transportation Enhancement Program
Agreement with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission being 1999
STP-Transportation Enhancement, to assist in the improvement and enhancement of
that part of downtown Kansas City between 5th Street and 6th Street and
Broadway Boulevard by retro-fitting thematic enhancements to the bridge over
I-70, replacing existing jersey barrier with corral rail and replacing existing
median barrier with a raised median similar to the corral rail, Project No.
STP-3380(412). A copy of the Agreement, in substantial form, is attached
hereto and is hereby approved.
Section 2. That
the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of the ordinance, together
with the Agreement attached hereto, in the office of the Recorder of Deeds for
Jackson County, Missouri, and with the Secretary of the State of Missouri.
