RESOLUTION NO. 030163

Congratulating Kyle Scheel on winning the Best Stage Magician Award for the Kansas City metro area.

WHEREAS, over 100 local magicians from the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 129 gathered for the annual Stage Magician of the Year Banquet and Competition; and

WHEREAS, for the second year in a row, the title was won by 13 year old Kyle Scheel; and

WHEREAS, Kyle is the only youth to qualify for the competition against some of the best adult magicians from all over the Kansas City area; and

WHEREAS, in 2001, Kyle was the youngest club member to ever win this award in the Clubs history and in 2002, becomes the only member ever to have won it for two years straight; and

WHEREAS, Kyles winning act themed on the Roaring Twenties and featured several new magical effects not ever seen before that were created by his mentor, Charlie Myrick; and

WHEREAS, Kyle has performed in various events such as the Childrens Miracle Network Auction, the Missouri Restaurants Association Inaugural Ball, Hy-Vee and the American Red Cross; and

WHEREAS, Kyle joined the Society of Young Magicians Assembly 9 at the age of 8 and has rapidly grown into one of Kansas Citys premier magicians; and

WHEREAS, Kyle is an honor student at Yeokum Middle School in Belton, Missouri, where he recently received an AAA Award for academic excellence; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Kyle Scheel on winning the Best Stage Magician Award for the Kansas City metro area; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Kyle Scheel in recognition by the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his outstanding achievements at his young age.
