RESOLUTION NO. 110329

 

Honoring Jim Giles for his distinguished service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Jim Giles has been an exceptional volunteer to vital greater Kansas City organizations, like the AIDS Service Foundation, Communities Creating Opportunities, Greater Kansas City Council on Philanthropy, and the Kansas City Museum; and

 

WHEREAS, over the course of his services, Jim Giles has done outstanding community service by providing expertise and leadership to civic efforts, such as the Jackson County Economic Development Commission, Kansas City Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Memorial Commemoration, Missouri State Historical Records Advisory Board and the Truman Presidential Library and Museum; and

 

WHEREAS, Jim has dedicated public and nonprofit service throughout greater Kansas City in his professional experiences, serving essential organizations like Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics, the Cookingham Institute, Jackson County Historical Society and the National Kidney Foundation; and

 

WHEREAS, Jim used his superior skills and commitment to serve Mayor Kay Barnes and Kansas Citians through his legislative and constituent work in the Mayor’s Office; and

 

WHEREAS, Jim has demonstrated compassion and engaged constituent, stakeholder and other support services to Kansas Citians through his role as administrator to Beth Gottstein, Councilperson, 4th District at Large,: researching complex issues, providing an ear and solutions to Kansas Citians, and a joyful, intelligent voice to the City Council offices of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council proudly recognize Jim Giles for his years of extraordinary service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jim Giles with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his outstanding work in City government and his many years of dedicated, selfless volunteer service in the community.
