Commending the Home Weatherization Program on the 100th
Kansas City home to be weatherized for warmth.
WHEREAS, the Home Weatherization Program, a special
community assistance program funded by Missouri Gas Energy and administered by
the City of Kansas City, Missouri, is celebrating an important milestone --
providing weatherization services to 100 Missouri Gas Energy customers and
their families in need this year; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Home Weatherization
Program is to help low/moderate income households with high energy usage to use
less energy and improve their living comfort; and
WHEREAS, the winter chill is around the corner. To
plan ahead for the upcoming winter months the partnership of Missouri Gas
Energy and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, have combined efforts to help
Kansas City, Missouri, metropolitan area residents stay warmer in the winter,
while keeping energy costs down; and
WHEREAS, the Home Weatherization Program provides
Missouri Gas Energy customers who own and occupy structurally sound homes in
Jackson, Clay and Platte counties with weatherization improvements and energy
conservation education. A household qualifies for the program based on income,
family size and energy usage; and
WHEREAS, Missouri Gas Energy has set aside
$500,000.00 to weatherize a total of 250 homes in 1995 and 1996. The Home
Weatherization Program includes an energy audit to determine the most cost-effective
weatherization measures to take; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby commend the Home
Weatherization Program for their public-private partnership to help
low/moderate income households in Kansas City and reaching the milestone of 100
homes weatherized; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be
spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy
hereof be presented to Missouri Gas Energy in appreciation of the Mayor,
Council for the public-private partnership sponsorship to benefit
low/moderate income households in Kansas City.
