RESOLUTION NO. 961190

 

Expressing the City's regrets for the unfortunate incident that occurred at the recent convention of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

 

WHEREAS, the convention and tourism industry is an important element of Kansas City's business community; and

 

WHEREAS, it is critically important to the convention and tourism industry that Kansas City maintain its reputation as a hospitable environment to our visitors; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City's reputation as the place to have a convention was stained by an unfortunate incident that occurred at the recent convention of the International Association of Fire Chiefs; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the clear policy of Kansas City to provide the most hospitable atmosphere, the warmest welcome and the most pleasant stay for all convention visitors; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City will not tolerate any action that is abusive of or physically threatening to any of our invited convention visitors; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their regrets and apologize for the unfortunate incident that occurred at the recent convention of the International Association of Fire Chiefs; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof
