COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 140238

 

Accepting and approving a $174,516.00 contract amendment with Truman Medical Center to provide Medical Case Management Services in the Kansas City area; and declaring an emergency.

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance authorizes a contract with Truman Medical Center to provide Medical Case Management for indigent residents; and

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance should be declared an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503(a)(2) of the City Charter in that it relates to the immediate preservation of the public health and is necessary to prevent a gap in services and care; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That a contract amendment between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and Truman Medical Center, acting through its Executive Director, whereby Truman Medical Center will provide Medical Case Management Services for eligible residents in the Kansas City area for the contract period of March 1, 2013 through March 31, 2015, for a total amount not to exceed $350,547.00, to be paid from funds previously appropriated in Account No. 14-2480-505404-G50242217, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the amendment, in substantial form, is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

 

Section 2. That the Director is hereby authorized to extend the term of this contract without further Council approval and that the Director is also hereby authorized to amend this contract to increase or decrease the total contract dollar amount contingent upon the need and availability of appropriated funds.

 

Section 3. That this ordinance is declared an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503(a)(2) of the City Charter in that it relates to the immediate preservation of the public health, and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
