RESOLUTION NO. 180379

 

Celebrating National Women’s Health Week May 13-19, 2018.

 

WHEREAS, during National Women's Health Week each year, millions of women take steps to improve their overall health. The week serves as a reminder for women to make their health a priority and build positive health habits for life and safeguard the health of women for generations to come; and

 

WHEREAS, the 19th annual National Women's Health Week kicks off on Mother's Day, May 13, and is celebrated through May 19, 2018. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in Region 7, leads National Women’s Health Week, in Missouri, Iowa and Kansas, to encourage all women to be as healthy as possible; and

 

WHEREAS, keeping women healthy and safe and promoting awareness of women’s health issues depends on partnerships with social, health, and other services; and

 

WHEREAS, women can promote health and prevent disease and illness, by taking simple steps to improve their physical, mental, social and spiritual health; and

 

WHEREAS, women’s health remains a priority for families, communities, and government, and our commitment to keeping women healthy is stronger than ever; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri supports the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in Region 7, vision of being a leader in Public Health while advancing Health Equity for all Americans; and

 

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in Region 7, encourages all women to take simple steps to improve their health during this week to live longer healthier lives by going online to https://www.womenshealth.gov/nwhw to get tips on living better; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize National Women’s Health Week May 13-19, 2018; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Region 7 Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, with the thanks of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City as we pay tribute to women that put their health first in Kansas City, Missouri.
