RESOLUTION NO. 961624

 

Honoring John D. Solomon, AAE, on the occasion of his retirement.

 

WHEREAS, John D. Solomon has announced his retirement from the City effective January 3, 1997 and Mr. Solomon began work for the Kansas City Department of Aviation as the Director of Aviation on January 14, 1991; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon directed the KCI Master Plan update development and initial implementation of the Aviation Department Strategic Business Plan which will carry the Department forward to meet the many challenges of the future; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon has directed land use planning, development and renovation of facilities at Kansas City International, Kansas City Downtown and Richards-Gebaur Memorial Airports; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon's leadership has made many contributions to the community and Mr. Solomon has actively worked to strengthen and revitalize each division of the Department and its capacity to serve the traveling public; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon's effective leadership can be seen in a vibrant and thriving Aviation Department and the continued development of one of the best airport systems in the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon has faithfully and diligently served the citizens of Kansas City while displaying the utmost in courtesy and professionalism; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their sincere appreciation on behalf of the people of Kansas City, to Mr. John D. Solomon upon his retirement, for his dedicated service for the government and the governed; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to him in token of the hearty best wishes of the Mayor and Council for a healthy and prosperous retirement.
