RESOLUTION NO. 070726
Honoring
Roberto Margris and welcoming him to the Blue Room on July 1, 2007.
WHEREAS,
the American Jazz Museum will have a special performance by the Roberto Magris
Europlane and a musical tribute to Jay McShann at 18th and Vine in
the Blue Room on Sunday, July 1, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
the Blue Room is working with Kansas City-based Paul Collins Artist Management
International to host the performance and members of the Roberto Magris
Europlane include: Roberto Magris, Dr. Art Davis and Jimmy Junebug Jackson; and
WHEREAS, Roberto
Magris was born in Italy in 1959 and began his jazz career in the late 70s,
recording 12 albums with his own groups and playing concerts in over 30
different countries around Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia, while
also performing at the top jazz festivals worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Roberto
Magris led a jazz trio named Gruppo Jazz Marca in the early 80s; and
WHEREAS, in 1987
he founded the Roberto Magris Quartet that performed all around the world for
nearly two decades when in 1988 he founded the Europlane Orchestra which
eventually led to the creation of the internationally acclaimed Roberto Magris
Europlane; and
WHEREAS, over
the years, Roberto Magris has performed with Kai Winding, Eddie Lockjaw Davis,
Sal Nistico, Franco Ambrosetti, Phillip Catherine, Bill Molenhof, Janusz
Muniak, Frantisek Uhlir, Michael Erian, Florian Brambock, Darko Jurkovic,
Ricardo Cavalli, Ines Reiger, the Traditional Jazz Studio of Prague and many
other great jazz musicians; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council hereby welcome Roberto Margris and welcoming him to the Blue Room
on July 1, 2007; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Robert Magris with the
appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his
appearance in the Blue Room and also best wishes to his future endeavors.
