ORDINANCE NO. 970674

 

Amending Chapter 54, Code of Ordinances of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, by repealing Section 54-114, Exceptions, and enacting in lieu thereof one new section of like number and subject matter reflecting the change in the operation of the tow lot from Public Works to Neighborhood and Community Services Department.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That Chapter 54, Code of Ordinances of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, is hereby amended by repealing Sections 54-114, Exceptions, and enacting in lieu thereof one new section, to read as follows:

 

Sec. 54-114. Exceptions.

 

The holding period required by section 54-113 shall not apply to the following:

 

(1) Any junk vehicle, salvage vehicle, front clip, rear clip or any other motor vehicle part purchased in the normal course of business by a salvage motor vehicle dealer who holds a valid permit from a salvage motor vehicle dealer who holds a valid permit.

 

(2) Any junk vehicle, salvage vehicle, front clip, rear clip or any other motor vehicle part purchased by a salvage motor vehicle dealer who holds a valid permit from an insurance company registered to do business in the state.

 

(3) Any junk vehicle, salvage vehicle, front clip, rear clip or any other motor vehicle part purchased by a salvage motor vehicle dealer who holds a valid permit from the tow lot operated by the Neighborhood and Community Services Department.

 

(4) Any junk vehicle, salvage vehicle, front clip, rear clip or any other motor vehicle part purchased by a salvage motor vehicle dealer who has a valid permit at a public auction conducted by a salvage broker who holds a valid permit.

 

(5) Motor vehicles duly registered and licensed, purchased from the registered owner thereof who has in his or her possession and who displays at the time of sale a valid certificate of ownership issued by the Director of Revenue of the State of Missouri, or a valid certificate of title issued by the Division of Vehicles of the Department of Revenue of the State of Kansas or their successors. ______________________________________________
