ORDINANCE NO. 921162
Authorizing the Director of Health to enter into an
agreement with the Swope Parkway Health Center whereby the Center will focus on
reducing the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and continue to develop and
provide IV drug treatment for ten months beginning July 1, 1992, for which the
City will provide $606,771.00 in previously appropriated funds, and providing
for an option to extend the agreement for an additional two months contingent
upon additional funds being included in the next annual budget with the
combined total funding for the agreement and any such extension not to exceed
$728,125.00.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of Health is hereby
authorized to enter into an agreement with the Swope Parkway Health Center, a
not-for-profit corporation acting through its Director, whereby the Center will
focus specifically on reducing the spread of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus
in Kansas City, Missouri and will continue to develop and provide IV drug
treatment in a residential and outpatient setting, for ten months beginning
July 1, 1992, and for which the City will provide $606,771.00 in funds
previously appropriated in Account No. 100-050-2422-B by Ordinance No. 920337.
A copy of the agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
Section 2. One month prior to the expiration of
this agreement and upon successful completion of its terms and conditions, the
Director of Health may exercise an option to extend the term of this agreement
an additional two months utilizing such funds that may be remaining at the
expiration of this agreement plus such funds that may be allocated by the City
Council for this purpose in its annual budget. The combined total funding for
the agreement and any such extension shall not exceed $728,125.00. Such option
shall be in writing signed by the Director of health and the agreement shall
become effective when filed with the City Clerk.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise
unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing
expenditure, is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in
the treasury to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each
sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
