RESOLUTION NO. 140972

 

Observing Veteran’s Day and honoring American Legion Heartland Women Veterans Post 1107.

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City’s many brave and courageous veterans will be honored on Veteran’s Day at a number of ceremonies, services, and observances; and

 

WHEREAS, American Legion Post 1107 is the only woman post in the Greater Kansas City, Missouri area and was established on November 7, 2012; and

 

WHEREAS, American Legion Heartland Women Veterans Post 1107 is led by Commander Lelia Brownfield and has 35 officers and members from World War II to recent conflicts; and

 

WHEREAS, American Legion Heartland Women Veterans Post 1107 was established for women so that women veterans have the camaraderie of sitting around with other women veterans talking about issues relative to them personally; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council do hereby commend and honor our many brave men and women that have served and continue to serve our nation; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the American Legion Heartland Women Veterans Post 1107 with the encouragement of the Mayor and Council to have all Kansas Citians join in the observance of this day and thank those who have fought to protect our way of life.
