RESOLUTION NO. 991134

Welcoming Yelena Anatolyevna Meshcheryakova, Tatyana Yevgenyevna Vintizenko, Oleg Nikolayench Pletnev, Yevgeniy Vasilyevich Gayevoy and Sergey Viktorovich Tatarinov of the Russian Federation to the United States and Kansas City.

WHEREAS, the Open House - Russian Leadership Exchange will bring municipal, regional, and national leaders from all regions of the Russian Federation to encourage mutual understanding through first hand exposure to democratic institutions in American communities; and

WHEREAS, our visitors will be given the chance to observe and participate in government activities, to visit and interact in schools, hospitals, courts, and in religious and philanthropic organizations and will be housed and hosted by volunteer American families during one to two weeks; and

WHEREAS, their visit serves as a reminder of the friendly ties of the citizens of the United States of America, the melting pot nation, to the Russian Federation and all other nations and illustrates again how all people who share this Planet Earth are truly brothers and sisters with a common wish to live together in peace; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby welcome to the United States of America and to Kansas City, Missouri, Yelena Anatolyevna Meshcheryakova, Tatyana Yevgenyevna Vintizenko, Oleg Nikolayench Pletnev, Yevgeniy Vasilyevich Gayevoy and Sergey Viktorovich Tatarinov of the Russian Federation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council hereby declare each of our visitors to be honorary citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to each of them in token of the respect and esteem in which they are held in the hearts and minds of the Mayor and Council.
