RESOLUTION NO. 001066
Recognizing the 2000 Coro
Kansas City Summer Internship in Public Affairs Program.
WHEREAS, the Coro
Foundation established its Kansas City public affairs training program in 1975,
with the express purpose of training young people to become leaders in the
realms of media, business, government, labor and not-for-profit organizations;
and
WHEREAS, the
Kansas City Summer Internship in Public Affairs appoints to its program as many
as twelve college students or recent graduates who possess great leadership
potential; and
WHEREAS, in
addition to the experiential learning in public affairs, the Coro interns also
participate in a number of other activities, including a mock trial, a mock
labor negotiation and interviews with community leaders; and
WHEREAS, the City
of Kansas City, Missouri, strongly supports the Coro Kansas City program and
acknowledges the value and effectiveness of this experiential training program
in developing leadership potential; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council hereby recognize the Coro Kansas City Summer Internship in Public
Affairs program as a valuable asset to this City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony
thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Jesse Olsen, Karen Weideman,
Molly Ekerdt, Erin Farney, Tiffany Pasley, Andy Funk, Jan Singelmann, Mary
Bosco, Melody Smith, Ruchi Kalra, Christina Codaro, and Anne Skinner with the
congratulations of the Mayor and Council for being the graduates of the
twenty-fifth Coro Kansas City Summer Internship in Public Affairs program.
