RESOLUTION NO. 070410

 

Honoring Susan Timmerman for her many contributions to the City during her tenure as the Manager of Benefits in the Human Resources Department.

 

WHEREAS, Susan Timmerman came to the City on January 25, 1999, as the Manager of Benefits in the Human Resources Department; and

 

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Susan has been the Co-Chair of the Charity Committee since September 2000 as well as serving on the Board for the Deferred Compensation; and

 

WHEREAS, many changes have occurred in the Benefits Division since Susan started with the City with a few of them being that she worked with the City Clerk to add Domestic Partner coverage, added voluntary options for flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, long-term care and vision insurance, developed the Eight Weeks to Financial Fitness Program, acquired funding for a Premium Holiday from employee paid health premiums and worked to find a solution when the FSA administrator filed for bankruptcy; and

 

WHEREAS, Susan developed the FMLA training for the HR Management Academy and has processed 6,879 requests for FMLA since 1999; and

 

WHEREAS, Susan has also been active in the Health Wellness Programs by serving on the planning committee to build the Fitness Source, engaging over 1,900 employees in at least one health wellness program, coordinating three annual health fairs and partnering with the Mid-America Coalition on Health Care for community initiative on depression and community initiative on cardiovascular health and disease; NOW, THERFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Susan Timmerman for her many contributions to the City during her tenure as the Manager of Benefits in the Human Resources Department; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Susan Timmerman with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for her many years of dedicated service to the City and with the best wishes for her new endeavors in the future.
