RESOLUTION NO. 070519

Recognizing and expressing appreciation to the Honorable Dr. Charles A. Eddy, for his service as Councilmember representing the Sixth District.

WHEREAS, Councilman Dr. Charles A. Eddy, has proudly served as the Councilmember for the Sixth District on the City Council since being elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2003; and

WHEREAS, during his term in office, he has tirelessly served the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri, most recently as the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee and as Vice Chair of the Operations Committee, as well as Chair of the 311 Oversight Committee, the Transportation Legislative Advocacy Committee, the Bartle Hall Oversight Committee, and the Convention Management Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Eddy has further contributed to the enhancement of life of all Kansas Citians as well as this region by serving on many diverse boards and commissions among those being, as past Chair of the Mid-America Regional Council, Missouri Chair of the Total Transportation Policy Committee, the American Royal Board of Trustees, the Don Bosco Center Board, and the Economic Development Corporation; and

WHEREAS, his passion for Kansas City has been evidenced by a steadfast and never yielding dedication to the well being and safety of the citizens of Kansas City by serving as a member of the Kansas City Health Commission, in his practice as a Doctor of chiropractic medicine, and as a reserve officer of the Kansas City Police Department, where he retired with the rank of captain and commander of the Reserve and Auxiliary Officers in 1994 after 25 years of voluntary service to the community; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Eddys unrelenting commitment to make Kansas City a better place to live has earned him a well-deserved reputation as a hard working and diligent public servant whose distinguished tenure on behalf of all Kansas Citians merits the acknowledgment, appreciation, and gratitude of the Council; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their wholehearted and genuine appreciation to Councilman Dr. Charles A. Eddy, for the countless hours of dedicated service he has devoted to Kansas City and its citizens over his eight years as Councilmember representing the Sixth District; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council as testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Councilman Dr. Charles A. Eddy, as a token of the high esteem in which he is held.
