COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION NO. 990740

 

Directing the City Manager to review the effectiveness of the enforcement of the ordinances prohibiting posting of advertising on street and highway right of way.

 

WHEREAS, Sections 4-1 and 4-2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, prohibits the placement of advertising on streets, highways and public property; and

 

WHEREAS, signs and advertisements are placed on our streets, highways and public property in violation of ordinances; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council wants the City Manager to review and report back to the Neighborhood Development Committee within 90 days his findings and recommendations for the enforcement of ordinances prohibiting posting of advertising on street and highway right of way; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Council directs the City Manager to study the effectiveness of the enforcement of the ordinances prohibiting posting of advertising on street and highway right of way as well as the feasibility of private/public partnership in such enforcement and to report to the Neighborhood Development Committee on his findings and recommendations on this matter within 90 days.
