RESOLUTION NO. 140405

 

Honoring Steven L. Ward on the occasion of his retirement after 38 and half years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, Steve Ward, has been employed by the City of Kansas City Missouri since October 6, 1975, without interruption; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Ward has worked with the City of Kansas City in the Finance Department as an assessor until December 1983; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve ward transferred to the Public Works Department worked as a  plans examiner until this became Codes Administration; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Ward was promoted through the ranks from Construction Code Inspector I in 1986 to a Construction Code Inspector II in 1987, and to a Technical Systems Inspector II in 1988, when he then became a Construction Code Inspection Supervisor  on September 12, 1988, and has maintained this position since; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2005 Codes Administration became part of City Planning and Development; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Ward,  is an active member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), attending local meetings and national meetings over the years and has held positions within the association; and

 

  WHEREAS, Steve Ward, was the main electrical trainer for the department, and has trained all current inspectors, all investigators, some supervisors, and some managers in this field during his tenure, maintained the technical data for the department for research, and kept abreast of a fast changing field; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Steven L. Ward on the occasion of his retirement after 38 and half years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Steven L. Ward with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his many years of dedicated service to the City and this community and wishing him the best in his retirement.
