ORDINANCE NO. 050304

 

Establishing grades on NW 136th Street and N. Nevada Avenue in Kansas City Platte County, Missouri, from the centerline of N. Nevada Avenue West 982 feet, 837 feet lying outside the City Limits, and East 1,068 feet, on NW 136th Street, and 165 feet North and 205 feet South on Nevada Avenue, and authorizing the City Clerk to file this ordinance.

 

Whereas, the Platte County Special Road District has a project West of the City Limits and believes that additional traffic will be generated to this intersection in Kansas City, Platte County, Missouri and wishes to improve the sight distance of this intersection so that increased stopping sight distance on the vertical curve will meet adopted design standards for the arterial street.

 

BE IT BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI:

 

That the Council finds it to be necessary to establish the grades along a 2,050 feet stretch of 136th Street, 1,213 feet of which is in Kansas City, Platte County, Missouri, in accordance with the provisions of Section 224, Article VII of the Charter of Kansas City, and as shown on the plans on file in the office of the Director of Public Works under File Number 2005-063, locating and defining the adjacent grade points on said streets, on the centerline of the roadways, which shall be connected by straight grades (tangents) or vertical curves between such grade points, the elevations of which are herein given below in feet above the NAVD 1988 datum as follows, to-wit:

 

Section 1. That the grade on the centerline of the roadway along a 1,213 feet stretch of NW 136th Street in Kansas City, Platte County, Missouri is hereby established as follows: beginning grade points along a line located and defined by the below listed adjacent grade points on centerline of said street starting with Station 12+00, which shall be connected by straight grades, the elevations of which are given below in feet, above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (-722.57 is the conversion to old Kansas City datum) as follows, to-wit:

 


NW 136th Street Station and Centerline:

 

At a point on the centerline of NW 136th Street 982.08 feet West of the centerline intersection with N. Nevada Avenue, which is approximately the NW Corner of the NE Sec 8, T52N, R34W, as shown on the plans and referred to herein to hereinafter as Station 12+00, Elevation 950.10.

 

Elevation

At a point 375 feet East along Station Line

 

Station 15+75 937.50

 

Except the grade planes meeting at this point shall be

connected with vertical curve tangents 650 feet in length.

 

At a point 950 feet East along Station Line

 

Station 21+50 963.00

 

Except the grade planes meeting at this point shall be

connected with vertical curve tangents 500 feet in length.

 

At a point 1,625 feet East along Station Line

 

Station 28+25 950.75

 

Except the grade planes meeting at this point shall be

connected with vertical curve tangents 350 feet in length.

 

At a point 1,900 feet East along Station Line

 

Station 31+00 952.50

 

Except the grade planes meeting at this point shall be

connected with vertical curve tangents 200 feet in length.

 

Section 2. That the grade on the centerline of the roadway along a 369 feet stretch of N. Nevada Avenue in Kansas City, Platte County, Missouri is hereby established as follows: beginning grade points along a line located and defined by the below listed adjacent grade points on centerline of said street starting with Station 10+75, which shall be connected by straight grades, the elevations of which are given below in feet, above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (-722.57 is the conversion to old Kansas City datum) as follows, to-wit:

 


N. Nevada Avenue Station and Centerline:

 

At a point on the centerline of N. Nevada Avenue 205.35 feet North of the centerline intersection with NW 136th Street, which is approximately the NW Corner of the NE Sec 8, T52N, R34W, as shown on the plans and referred to herein to hereinafter as Station 10+75, Elevation 964.85.

 

At a point 60 feet South along Station Line

 

Station 11+35 965.65

 

Except the grade planes meeting at this point shall be

connected with vertical curve tangents 120 feet in length.

 

At a point 190 feet South along Station Line

 

Station 12+65 959.15

 

At a point 205 feet South along Station Line

 

Station 12+80 959.45

 

At a point 220 feet South along Station Line

 

Station 12+80 959.15

 

At a point 309 feet South along Station Line

 

Station 13+84 969.83

 

Except the grade planes meeting at this point shall be

connected with vertical curve tangents 120 feet in length.

 

Section 3. That the grading of NW 136th Street and N. Nevada Avenue and associated improved intersection, within the limits described herein, are hereby authorized to be made to these established grades in accordance with the project plans on file in the Office of the Director of Public Works and being incorporated herein by reference.

 

Section 4. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file copies of this ordinance in the Office of the Secretary of State of Missouri and in the Office of the Recorder of Deeds of Platte County, Missouri together with all other relevant documents.

 

Section 5. That this ordinance is recommended for approval by the Director of Public Works:
