COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 090553

 

Reducing and reallocating an appropriation in the General Fund in the amount of $225,000.00 for the operation of recycling drop-off centers; and authorizing a one-year renewal of the recycling drop-off centers management and environmental education agreement with Bridging the Gap.

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to fully fund the maintenance and operation of four recycling drop-off centers; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City will renew its contract with Bridging the Gap to maintain and operate a total of three recycling drop-off centers, specifically the Three Trails/Bannister Community Recycling Center, Metro North Community Recycling Center, and a new Recycling Center to be located in the Midtown area; and

WHEREAS, the Deramus Community Recycling Center will remain open but will be staffed by the City; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the appropriation in the following account of the General Fund is reduced by the following amount:

10-1000-892330-B KC Recycles $225,000.00

Section 2. That the appropriations in the following accounts of the General Fund are increased by the following amounts:

 

10-1000-101436-B Environmental Education $225,000.00

Section 3. That the Director of Public Works is authorized to execute a one-year renewal of the recycling drop-off centers management agreement with Bridging the Gap in an amount not to exceed $160,000.00 from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 10-1000-892335-B

Section 4. That the City Manager is authorized to execute a one-year renewal of the environmental education contract agreement with Bridging the Gap in an amount not to exceed $225,000.00 from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 10-1000-101436-B

Section 5. That the renewals authorized herein is approved in substantial form as that on file in the office of the Director of Public Works and Office of Environmental Quality.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
