ORDINANCE NO. 980782

 

Authorizing a $4,640,000.00 agreement with the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City, Inc. to provide services for the promotion of conventions and tourism business in the City for Fiscal Year 1998-99; authorizing expenditure 40% of the convention and tourism tax on sleeping rooms.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Convention and Entertainment Centers is authorized to execute an agreement on behalf of the City in the amount of $4,640,000.00 with the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City, Inc. to provide services for the promotion of conventions and tourism business in the City for the fiscal year 1998-99, from funds appropriated in Account No. 99-236-067-2000F. The agreement is approved in substantial form as that attached to the original of this ordinance.

 

Section 2. That the Director of Convention and Entertainment Centers is authorized to expend $4,640,000.00 plus any additional amount up to a total of 40% of the proceeds of the tax imposed by section 68-551(1) in satisfaction of this agreement, upon receipt and appropriation of that additional amount by the Council.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
