RESOLUTION NO. 130130

 

Honoring C.E. Leigh on his retirement after a total of 47 years and 6 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

 

WHEREAS, C.E. began his career with the City in September 1965 working as a Laborer I in the Parks and Recreation Department; and

 

WHEREAS, C.E. worked as an Engineering Aide I, Engineering Aide II, and Engineering Aide III in the Engineering Division of Public Works Department from January 1970 until May 1981 when he left the City for a year; and

 

WHEREAS, C.E. has worked in the Engineering Division of Water Services Department since May 1982 in various positions including Architect Engineering Technician, Senior Engineering Technician, and Principal Engineering Technician; and

 

WHEREAS, C.E. became one of the first African-American Inspectors for the Public Works and Water Services’ Engineering Divisions; and

 

WHEREAS, C.E. is one of three generations of family members who worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, C.E. looks forward to his retirement in order to spend time with his grandchildren, bowling, relaxing and enjoying his new life outside of work; and

 

WHEREAS, February 28, 2013 will mark the last day of C.E.’s career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY;

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Mr. C.E. Leigh, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, together with appreciation for his total of 47 years and 6 months of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mr. C.E. Leigh in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
