RESOLUTION NO. 950844

Honoring Al Mauro on the occasion of his retirement from Kansas City Southern Industries.

WHEREAS, Al Mauro is retiring from Kansas City Southern Industries where he has served as Vice President and Secretary of that entity; and

WHEREAS, he has also participated in a number of civic and community activities, including the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Council of Kansas City, Missouri, the Eye Foundation of Kansas City, Friends of the Zoo and the Downtown Council of Kansas City through which he has been exceptionally active in the revitalization of Downtown; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mauro has also been a member of FOCUS, the Truman Medical Center Board of Governors, the Board of the Starlight Theater, the Board of Regents for Rockhurst College, the Executive Committee of Swope Ridge Health Care and Center and a member of the vestry of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral; and

WHEREAS, he has received numerous awards including the Dr. Rex Diveley Community Award, the Distinguished Business Leadership Award for 1995, the 1994 Spirit Award, the 1991 Annual Centurions Leadership Award, and he was cited by Ingrams Magazine as a 1990 Civic Leader; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mauro has been an outstanding civic and business leader in Kansas City, Missouri and is now retiring; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council do hereby recognize and commend Al Mauro on the occasion of his retirement from Kansas City Southern Industries; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and a copy be presented to him wishing him a long and prosperous retirement.
