On the death of Vincent J. O'Flaherty.

WHEREAS, Vincent J. O'Flaherty passed away on December 14, 1990 in Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Flaherty was a highly respected leader in the real estate business as a former president of the Kansas City Real Estate Board and the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers; and

WHEREAS, prior to his retirement, he was president of Vincent J. O'Flaherty & Co., later O'Flaherty and Vanice, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from Rockhurst College in 1921, was chairman of the Board of Regents in 1970-71, served as a past president of Rockhurst College Alumni Association, and received its first Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1982; and

WHEREAS, his deep religious devotion was shown in his involvement and activities at St. Peter's Catholic Church, his ordination as a deacon in 1976, his induction into the Knights of St. Gregory in 1951, as well as membership in the Serra Club; and

WHEREAS, Vincent J. O'Flaherty will be sadly missed by all those who loved and knew him and his contributions to the community will be long remembered and appreciated; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council express their deep sorrow on the death of Vincent J. O'Flaherty and extend their sympathy to the bereaved family and friends; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread on the Minutes of the Council and copies furnished to family members in token of the heartfelt sadness of the death of this fine man.
