RESOLUTION

Declaring
April 10-16, 2018, as SevenDays Week in Kansas
City, Missouri.
WHEREAS, SevenDays, Make Ripple, Change the World is an
annual weeklong event to overcome hatred, bigotry and ignorance;
and
WHEREAS, SevenDays begins Tuesday, April 10, 2018, with a celebration,
discussion of clergy from various faiths, and listening to songs performed by
songwriting competition finalists; and
WHEREAS, SevenDays continues with a Discover
Diversity Dinner to sample traditional dishes from different faiths and
cultures to overcome evil with acts of kindness; and
WHEREAS, SevenDays encourages community
participation from all religious/non-religious beliefs, races and cultures
during all events, concluding with the SevenDays Faith, Love & Walk at the
National World War I Museum and Memorial; and
WHEREAS, the memories of three wonderful and unique
people, Dr. William Corporon, Reat Underwood, and Terri LaManno, will live on
and will be cherished; and
WHEREAS, SevenDays expands its act of compassion,
tolerance and understanding to those who gather and celebrate the lives lost
due to acts of hatred and ignorance, they fully support and encourage all in
Kansas City, including residents, businesses and visitors, to come together
during the SevenDays week of celebratory activities to recognize that
evil, ignorance and hatred will be eliminated by understanding, kindness and
love; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby declare April
10-16, 2018, as SevenDays Week in Kansas City,
Missouri; and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mindy
Corporon, President of Faith Always Wins Foundation creator of the SevenDays Make a
Ripple, Change the World events, with the Mayor and Council urging all citizens
to remember the events of April 13, 2014, not only for the losses of that day
but also for the significance of the powerful and enduring vow to overcome evil
with good.
