RESOLUTION NO. 000790
Accepting an Automatic
External Cardiac Defibrillator from the Mid-America Heart Institute of Saint
Lukes Hospital.
WHEREAS, it is
known that the use of automatic external cardiac defibrillators can prevent death
and disability from sudden cardiac arrest in numerous instances; and
WHEREAS, it is
known that the availability of automatic external cardiac defibrillators and
trained citizens to provide emergency assistance throughout the community can
make our City a safer place in which to live and work; and
WHEREAS, the
Council urges that the availability and use of automatic external cardiac
defibrillators by trained citizens throughout Kansas City in appropriate public
spaces, public and private workplaces, and in area institutions; and
WHEREAS, the
Council desires to encourage the citizens of Kansas City to become involved in
learning the proper uses of automatic external cardiac defibrillators and how
to provide emergency assistance throughout the community; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council hereby accept, on behalf of the citizens of Kansas City, the
automatic external cardiac defibrillator from the Mid-America Heart Institute
of Saint Lukes Hospital for City Hall in recognition of the importance of
saving lives and promoting Kansas City as a Heart Safe Community; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the
Mid-America Heart Institute of Saint Lukes Hospital in recognition of the
appreciation and thanks of Kansas City and the hope that many lives may be
saved and that we may be known as one of the top ten Heart Safe Communities
in the country.
