RESOLUTION NO. 090901

 

Recognizing the success of Kansas City, Missouri's Drop Out Summit and paving the way for future youth development efforts in Kansas City, Missouri as well as all surrounding communities.

 

WHEREAS, one of the fundamental aspects of the quality of life encompass the viability of education; and

 

WHEREAS, the Youth Advocacy Office has established a long term relationship with the diverse school districts in Kansas City metropolitan area; and

 

WHEREAS, the Youth Advocacy Office has been instrumental in bridging the gap between local government and the school districts and creating a systematic approach to address multiple educational and employment challenges; and

 

WHEREAS, the Youth Advocacy office will continue to serve as a convener in merging the business, philanthropic and faith-based communities to address academic and employment challenges; and

 

WHEREAS, it was defined by a cross sector of stakeholders that the City should serve in this capacity during the Americas Promise Dropout Summit; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Managers, Youth Advocacy office will serve as the conduit to attract financial resources to elevate educational, career oriented resources which impact young people and the sustainability of the next generation workforce, in addition to establishing a clearinghouse and community-wide approaches to support youth development research and best practices.
