RESOLUTION NO. 980786

 

Declaring the intent of the City Council to establish an environmentally preferable procurement policy for the City; directing the City Manager to investigate, draft and recommend implementation of such a policy; and directing the City Manager to report his progress and recommendations to the City Council.

 

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is proper and fitting to establish a policy to encourage and increase the procurement of recycled and other environmentally preferable products by the City, its departments, offices, agencies and contractors; and

 

WHEREAS, a draft of a proposed Environmentally Preferable Procurement Policy has been prepared by and received from the joint Jackson County/Kansas City - Green Purchasing Task Force; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the City Manager review that draft policy and recommend to the Council the advisability of and method and procedures for adopting and implementing such a policy; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Manager is hereby directed to review the draft of the proposed Kansas City Environmentally Preferable Procurement Policy as prepared by the joint Jackson County/Kansas City - Green Purchasing Task Force, and recommend to the City Council the advisability of and method and procedures for adopting and implementing that policy or the equivalent thereof; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is hereby directed to report his findings and recommendations to the Council not later than sixty (60) days from the adoption of this Resolution.
