ORDINANCE NO. 110512
Accepting and approving a
one-year $350,172.00 grant award and agreement with the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development to provide funding that assists homeless men,
women and children; and recognizing an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That
a grant award and agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting
through its Director of Health, and the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), acting through its Director of Community Planning and
Development, whereby HUD will provide funding to improve the lives of homeless
men, women and children through housing assistance programs for the period
beginning July 27, 2011 through July 26, 2012, for an amount not to exceed
$350,172.00, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the grant award, in
substantial form, is attached and made a part by reference.
Section 2. That
revenue in the following account of the Governmental Grants Fund is hereby
increased in the following amount:
12-2480-500001-477706 Shelter
Plus Care Project $ 3,348.00
Section 3. That
the appropriation in the following account of the Governmental Grants Fund is
hereby increased in the following amount:
12-2480-505018-B Shelter
Plus Care Project $ 3,348.00
Section 4. That
the Director of Health is hereby authorized to expend the sum of $350,172.00
from funds heretofore appropriated to Account No. 12-2480-505018 for the
aforesaid contract.
Section 5. That
this ordinance is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of
Section 503 of the City Charter in that it appropriates money, and shall take
effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that
there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation
to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance,
otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which
payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
