RESOLUTION NO. 190892

 

Honoring Travois, Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Bland Glynn and President Philip Glynn for receiving Certified B Corporation® Best For The World 2019 status from global nonprofit B Lab in two categories: Overall and Customers.

 

WHEREAS, Travois, a Certified B Corporation® headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri has been named a Best For The World 2019 honoree by global nonprofit B Lab in two categories: Overall and Customers; and

 

WHEREAS, Travois ranks in the top 10% of all B Corps worldwide across all six impact areas — the environment, workforce, local communities, suppliers, customers and corporate governance — which earned them Best For The World: Overall recognition and Best For The World 2019: Customers in recognition of their work to improve the lives of their customers and Travois joins fellow Kansas City Business Global Prairie as a B Corporation®; and

 

WHEREAS, Travois, founded in 1995, set the bar for responsible businesses around the world by bringing private investor capital to Native American communities, providing top employee benefits like an on-site daycare, and using an extensive renewable energy system of rooftop solar panels to power its headquarters building; and

 

WHEREAS, Travois generated $1.4 billion in housing and economic development in American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities, building or rehabilitating more than 5,400 affordable homes and financing critical economic development projects, community centers, and senior centers in 22 states and Travois’ work focuses on underserved populations; and

 

WHEREAS, sustainability and social justice is in the DNA of Travois as a company, its culture and the investments it makes in the great city of Kansas City and around our nation; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend congratulations and salute Travois, Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Bland Glynn, and President Philip Glynn on being recognized as a Certified B Corporation® Best For The World 2019 honoree by global nonprofit B Lab in two categories: Overall and Customers; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and a copy hereof be presented to Travois, Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Bland Glynn, and President Philip Glynn in recognition of this outstanding achievement and dedication to sustainability in our great nation and this great City of Kansas City.
