Directing the City Manager to design a model plan to implement the recommendations of the Neighborhood Development Committee as outlined in its Neighborhood Improvement Program.

WHEREAS, the City is committed to enhance the quality of life for Kansas Citians in our residential neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, the City wishes to carry out this mission in a proactive manner that encompasses working in close partnership with neighborhood associations; and

WHEREAS, the City, through its Neighborhood Development Committee, has envisioned a Neighborhood Improvement Program that combines systematic code enforcement and a firm commitment to focus City services on neighborhoods undergoing code enforcement; and

WHEREAS, by providing financing mechanisms to facilitate enforcement, the Neighborhood Improvement Program aims at the eradication of pernicious blighting influences that suffocate developmental efforts in our neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, a neighborhood oriented government that responds to the goals and objectives advanced by FOCUS requires the participation and support of all Kansas Citians; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
