RESOLUTION NO. 010149

 

Directing a cooperative effort with the City of Independence, Missouri, for the purpose of addressing improvement issues along the U.S. 40 Corridor from Blue Ridge Cut-Off to Lees Summit Road.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Independence, Missouri, and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, share the U.S. 40 Highway Corridor from Blue Ridge Cut-Off to Lees Summit Road as a common boundary, which is an important commercial corridor to both communities; and

 

WHEREAS, the cooperation of both cities in improving the physical and business vitality of the corridor is essential; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Council hereby directs the City Manager and requests the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri, to enter into a cooperative effort with their respective Independence, Missouri, counter parts to produce an assessment of the needs for the area along U.S. 40 Highway from Blue Ridge Cut-Off to Lees Summit Road and, if warranted, to devise a strategic action plan, in cooperation with the affected businesses and property owners in the area.
