RESOLUTION NO. 030443

 

Expressing appreciation to the Honorable Edward F. Ford III for his service as the Councilmember representing the First District-At-Large.

 

WHEREAS, Ed Ford has served as the Councilmember for the First District-At-Large since being elected in 1995 and re-elected in 1999; and

 

WHEREAS, Ed has had a substantial impact on the development of this City through his eight years of service on the Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Committee, serving as Chairman for the last four years; and

 

WHEREAS, Ed currently serves as a Director of the Economic Development Corporation, as a member of the Parking Authority, as a member of the River Market Oversight Committee and the Streetlight Oversight Committee, as a member of the Downtown, Inc. Executive Committee and the Northland Chamber of Commerce Planning and Development Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Ed has served on the Clay County Economic Development Corporation Development Committee, the MARC Total Transportation Committee and the Shoal Creek TIF Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Ed was a founding father of Northland Neighborhoods, Inc., and has been an active participant in the Vivion Road Gang; and

 

WHEREAS, while chairing the Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Committee, Ed oversaw the passage of the impact fee ordinance, worked diligently on the development of an economic development policy, and supported good planning and development in Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, while driving on the streets of the City that Ed has worked so hard to build these last eight years, Ed has managed to avoid running over any bicyclists who have crossed his path and tried his patience; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their heartfelt and sincere appreciation to Councilman Ed Ford for the countless hours of dedicated service he has selflessly given to the citizens of Kansas City during his eight years in office; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council as testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Councilman Ed Ford as a token of the high esteem in which he is held by the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
