RESOLUTION NO. 970370

Honoring and recognizing Harry L. Reed upon his retirement.

WHEREAS, Harry L. Reed began his employment for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, on December 23, 1957, as a Pipeline Helper; and

WHEREAS, he was promoted to a Water Serviceman on August 14, 1966, and again to Water Service Inspector on November 6, 1966; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Reed was promoted to General Supervisor on March 18, 1972, and again to Area Superintendent on April 6, 1981, and given the title and responsibility of Superintendent of Water Service; and

WHEREAS, due to his experience and diligence and commitment to the Department he was reassigned to Superintendent of Meter Reading in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Reed has distinguished himself as an associate who is committed to his work and can be relied upon in any circumstance to carry out his duties in a responsible manner; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Reed participated actively in the betterment of City government and received an award for contribution to the safety of the associates and citizens entering City Hall through the City Hall Garage; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Reed made many friends among his associates during his employment with the City and has contributed greatly to the citizens of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the health and welfare of this City; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Harry L. Reed their congratulations and thanks for his 39 years of dedicated service and commitment to the citizens of Kansas City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Harry L. Reed with the best wishes of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City.
