Recognizing the Danara Technical Group/Southwestern Bell Student Internship.


WHEREAS, Southwestern Bell-Kansas City and Danara Technical Group are committed to developing programs which encourage students to pursue careers in high technology fields; and


WHEREAS, these organizations have formed an alliance to develop a collaborative student internship program which offers students real world CAD experience in scanning, posting, vectoring and conversion methodologies; and


WHEREAS, the student intern program provides practical work experience and exposure to some of the new innovations within the industry through the delivery of high technology applications; and


WHEREAS, the following students are learning high technology applications while supplementing their incomes and have demonstrated exemplary performance in connection with the objectives of the program; and


WHEREAS, the following students have demonstrated excellence in their academic programs and superior student leadership to their education institutions: Lamont Cain, Tad Technical Institute, 3.67 GPA with degree in Computer Aided Drafting; Maryam Hasheminia, University of Missouri-Kansas City, 2.5 GPA, Treasurer of American Society of Student Engineers, Vice-President for the Society of Women Engineering and Secretary of UMKCs Engineering Student Council, will graduate in December 1997; Oguz Berkoz pursuing a B.S. in electronic engineering at the DeVry Institute of Technology; and Christopher Hill, 4.0 GPA at Tad Technical Institute pursuing a degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology, will graduate in December 1997; and


WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri recognizes Southwestern Bell and Danara Technical Group for their collaborative efforts to encourage the pursuit of high technology careers through this innovative program which allows the students to work at both companies locations while experiencing first-hand the vendor-to-customer project management process and other skills to aspiring students; NOW, THEREFORE,




That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the Danara Technical Group/Southwestern Bell Student Internship for providing practical work experience for students; and


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Keith Rainey, Vice-President of Marketing and Administration, Danara Technical Group, with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council for this innovative program in Kansas City.
